Weekly meetings of all SMACT students for inquiry and debate about art, culture, and society relating the independent study project to the general direction of student's work and course of study. Additional regular consultations with faculty/thesis advisors required. Independent Studio is supplemented by external guest studio visits as well as periodic presentations to the entire visual arts faculty and guest reviewers. The course will also help students learn how to organize their portfolios, formulate grant applications, and acquire the skills to successfully explain and promote their work. Restricted to SMACT program students.
