the impetus for the design was an abstraction of the traditional elements of nature to basic ideas thereby creating an environment where these ideas can be analyzed and investigated on numerous levels

the site is divided into 3 soil conditions at gradually decreasing elevations: dry, wet meadow, and marsh. the final condition is a detention basin which incorporates ruins of Kahn's town houses as well as concrete basins filled with various aquatic plants.

the path which runs through the site is made up of various materials including wood, slate, brick stone, and metal. The materials will allow for different tactile and sonorous experiences depending upon the weather. The path provides one possible route through the site but individuals are encouraged to find their own way.
