introduction to idea
the diverse social and environmental problems of the mill creek area offer a variety of opportunities in which to make positive changes. What is so exciting to me about the mill creek are not only the possibilities for positive change but also the idea that the physical form this change inhabits can be conceptually complex but beautifully simple in its design manifestation. My proposal is to make an outdoor classroom/water garden in the lot adjacent to the school playground. In addition i plan to incorporate a portion of the Kahn townhouses as a ruins water garden the goal is to explore the larger issue of landscape literacy in the context of an urban environment. i plan to use basic landscape and design elements to raise the ordinary to the extraordinary and encourage the discussion of landscape and nature in the city.
