How can we transform today’s cities into intelligent living systems of tomorrow?

With a human centered design approach, we will consider how mobile technologies and pervasive computing can support connected communities and a rich social environment.

The goal of the class is to imagine and design technologies and innovative user experiences to reshape the way people connect, communicate and interact with services, products and spaces in the urban context.

Students will work in multi-disciplinary teams to develop disruptive concepts for pervasive urban computing, designing scenarios for smart cities, interfaces and applications.

The workshop is in collaboration with AVEA Labs, Turkish mobile operator. The class will creatively explore how social engagement could transform tomorrow’s smart cities, and how we can develop mobile applications to improve the human experience in cities, exploring location based technologies and media., Interested students should attend the first class to learn more about the course and details on specific design directions. A small number of candidates will be selected for their complementary skill sets for this rewarding and challenging project.
