Maroula Bacharidou

Maroula is a SMArchS in Design and Computation student at the MIT Department of Architecture. Before coming to MIT, she studied Architectural Engineering at the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA), where she also pursued an MSc (2016) in the Design-Space-Culture interdepartmental program, completing her thesis entitled "Touch, Tools and Matter: Post-digital Patterns of Interaction". Maroula's research interests focus on tools and theories that elucidate the mental and bodily engagement among humans and artifacts emerging during the processes of design and making. She has worked as a teaching assistant at the MIT Department of Architecture and at the National Technical University of Athens, Greece, and as an architectural designer in several architecture firms in Athens, Greece. Parallel with her architectural research and practice, Maroula has been engaged in curatorial and organizational activities in Greece and the United States, with a forthcoming one the ACADIA 2017 Conference, in which she is engaged as a graduate assistant.
