Courses, Classes, and Sessions
MIT students and cross-registered students may be interested in taking courses for credit offered each year by members of the House_n team. These courses commonly focus on issues in user interface design, context-aware computing, persuasive technologies, and home design and technologies.
In the past, we have offered the following courses:
- Designing Persuasive Environments and Technologies (Intille) - (Fall 2002, 2003, 2004, 2005 - tentative)
- Fall 2001: User Interface Design Studio for Homes of the Future (Intille) - (Fall 2001)
- Towards an Integrated, Adaptable, Machine-Crafted Methodology for the Making of Places to Live (Larson) - (Spring 2000)

January IAP Workshops - for the MIT Community and Beyond
Every January, MIT has an "Independent Activities Period" in January, between semesters. This is an opportunity to host unique class offerings and workshops. House_n invites MIT students, MIT faculty and staff, and members of the public to attend and participate in brainstorming sessions, media presentations, and design workshops.
In the past, we have offered the following IAP workshops:
- Visions of the Future: Screening and Making Concept Videos (2004)
- Invent the Future of User Interfaces (2003)
- Ubiquitous Computing Design Contest (2003)
- Designing a User Interface "Age Suit" (2003)
- Hack a "Home of the Future" Computer Interface (2001)
