Research Art/Architectural History related In each academic year, HTC faculty review proposals for five pre-doctoral fellowships for formal nomination. Four of the six are limited to a single nomination. There is a four-phase process for each fellowship:
To be eligible to submit a proposal for the nomination, candidates must be full-time MIT doctoral students who:
1. Writing Sample Reviewed In the first week of classes, the candidate must give the intended writing sample to their advisor for review. Thereafter, under the guidance of the advisor the student reworks the sample until the advisor determines that it is sufficiently polished enough for the proposal phase. 2. Proposal Delivery Completed proposals are sent to HTC@MIT, room 10-303, and consist of:
For the following fellowships the proposal delivery deadline is the last Monday of September at 10 a.m. (this year is Sept. 29, 2008):

3. Faculty Review Proposals Faculty review the proposals based upon merit and suitability to the fellowship guidelines. 4. Nominees Prepare Fellowship Application Application materials can be picked up at the HTC office in 10-303 or found online depending on the granting organization. The student is encouraged to gain advise from at least two faculty members to fine-tune his/her application. Applicable transcripts and recommendation letters should be sought immediately and sent to HTC office at 10-303. The student returns the application to HTC (10-303) at least four days before the application deadline. A final inventory (making sure all parts are included) and assembly (extra copies included) will be done prior to being sent to the granting organization meeting. The nomination letter will be added to the package at that time. |
