The Advanced Visualization Theater (AVT), room 7-431,
is equipped with the following:
- A computer and video projector (Sanyo PLC-UF10, 7700 lumens, 1600x1200 resolution)
- Two slide projectors (wireless remote control can be borrowed from Architecture CRO)
- A multimedia equipment cabinet, described below
- 3 sets of computer (VGA), composite video and stereo audio inputs
into which users can plug in computers, their own video cameras
or other equipment. Two sets of inputs are at the
front of the room to the sides of the main screen, and one is
at the back of the room in the equipment cabinet.
- Wireless microphone receivers (wireless lapel and handheld microphones can be borrowed from Architecture CRO)
- 4 wired MITnet network connections, plus IEEE 802.11 wireless access
- Voice phone line (617-258-0817)
The multimedia equipment cabinet contains:
- A VHS+ VCR
- A DVD player
- (As mentioned above) one set of VGA, composite video and stereo audio inputs
- S-video input
- MIT cable TV feed
- A touch-panel controller to control projector power,
select which device or input is fed
to the projector and room speakers, change MIT
cable TV channel, and control audio volume.
Computers should tested in advance to verify they will work with the projector.
Video ouput from computers varies so
widely that computer projectors can't always identify the
correct resolution and signal timing.
We recommend computer VGA output at 1600x1200, 1280x1024 or 1024x768
resolution at 60 Hz.
If at all possible, test your computer at several available resolutions and refresh rates to determine the
settings that work best.
All computer video inputs are VGA (HD15 connectors). Computers with
DVI connectors only (in particular Mac notebooks) will need DVI
to VGA adapters. Users should
bring the necessary adapters themselves, since we do not have all
the possible adapters that a given computer might need.
