Suheyla Takesh

Suheyla Takesh is a second-year master’s student at MIT’s Aga Khan Program for Islamic Architecture. Before joining MIT, she served as a curator at the Sharjah-based Barjeel Art Foundation, working with modern and contemporary art from North Africa and West Asia. In this capacity, she contributed to exhibitions in the UAE, Kuwait, Toronto, and most recently in Amman. An exhibition she curated from the Foundation’s collection at the Aga Khan Museum in 2015, entitled Home Ground, was named Toronto’s top art show of the year by NOW Toronto. She continues to be affiliated with the Barjeel Art Foundation in the capacity of a curator-at-large, while pursuing her graduate studies.Suheyla has received her undergraduate degree from the American University of Sharjah in 2012. In 2014, she was the recipient of the FIND Fellowship awarded by NYU Abu Dhabi.
