First meeting: Wednesday, September 7, 2:00pm in 9-250
This is a project to develop a program to help educated young designers around the world that may not be able to benefit from higher education. As I travel around the world, there are always one or two young people in every village, who are interested in becoming architects/designers but have no means to accomplish this goal. They will never be able to afford an education. However, they are bright, talented and eager to learn.
This program is to develop a ten-week studio, taught over the web, to teach the basic ideas of design that they might use both to help the villages/cities they live in and help them if they do have the opportunity to apply to schools.
The project will be coordinated with the UN Habitat as part of their programs around the world. Some work has been done on the project from previous years, however additional work is needed in the coming semester.
The work that is needed to be done this semester includes the following:
1.Refine the assignments and provide examples of work.
2. Develop a web site.
3. Develop computer programs that can communicate with the students.
4.Test the program by connecting with young students around the worlds.
Skills that are needed include:
1.Ability to hand draw as well as know simple computer programs.
2.Ability to test the assignments.
3.Ability to develop a web site.
4.Review responses.
