In this studio, doubt is the basis of discovery. The focus of the studio is not so much the production of discrete artifacts but the proposition of new architectural possibilities. Materials will not be treated merely as finishes but as critical points of departure for investigation new spatial possibilities. Students will engage materials and methods of production by building full scale wall constructs and will be responsible for the translation of those discoveries into critical architectural design propositions. Discourses of technologies, materiality, mass production and body politics will be engaged concurrently through informal presentations by the studio critic and invited guests.

Note: The studio is preparing a field trip to Manhattan from September 13 - 16 to visit the site, relevant built projects, and participate in a prearranged tour of a materials library.
