Work Shop Description:
An architectural and urban design workshop focusing on contemporary urban housing issues in Nanjing, an ancient Chinese city on the bank of Yangtze River. Specific site and program will be determined.

The duration of the studio will be from June 11, 2009 to June 30, 2009. On June 30, 2009 a symposium on the same topic will be held at Southeast University.

Professor Yung Ho Chang will lead a teaching group, which also consists of Mr. Dan Chen from MIT, Professor Ming Ge from Southeast University, and MIT alumnus Mr. Wenjun Ge. Professor Adele Naude Santos will give a speech at the symposium and attend the final review.

MArch level 2, MArch Level 3, and SMArchS students are eligible to apply. The workshop is sponsored by the largest real estate company in Nanjing. All enrolled students’ travel and accommodation will be covered. Students may spend up to $500 for food and a field trip. There are two options for the field trip: 1) visit Suzhou gardens and Tongli, a water town nearby Suzhou. 2) visit Mountain village in southern Anhui Province. The final decision will be made shortly. For more information please visit the link below:
