This course examines the role of representation in conceiving and producing design. Students will be exposed to a variety of representational techniques including sketching, orthographic and paraline drawing, constructed perspective, collage, photography and video. Students will begin by conceiving space as a product of interacting events, which they will storyboard into a coherent sequence. By emphasizing a cinematic approach special significance will be placed on "point of view", in both its mechanical and psychological definition. Students will be encouraged to develop an experimental method, which will allow them to use the media and techniques for inquiring into and communicating design.
