The
course introduces students to sculpture as both object and
non-object. Fundamental concepts such as form in space, and
the relation of an object to its site are explored as well
as temporal dimensions in sculpture including performance-based
work and context, and viewer interaction. Through full scale
projects, students investigate characteristics inherent in
a wide variety of materials and shape sculptural form to express
personal, social, and intellectual issues. Students examine
the relationship between concept, materials, and process.
Lab fee.
