Intensive reading seminar on the work of the French
philosopher Jacques Derrida. The class will work on
explicating major Derridean terms and concepts, and
his critique within the traditions of Western
philosophy and theory. Supplemental readings will
include the work of Jacques Lacan, Martin Heidegger,
Edmund Husserl, Immanuel Kant, Ferdinand de Saussure, J. L. Austin, Emmanuel Levinas, Paul de Man, Karl Marx and Alexandre Kojeve.
