The workshop will produce design interfaces using Processing (force-based particle systems), with the goal of allowing intuitive 3D sketching within massively-constrained computational systems to offer technically and formally elegant architectural form-generation. The ultimate goal is to install an interactive exhibition at the Seville Biennale (Nov 2008) that will give Wii-motes to the public to produce seemingly effortless yet beguilingly beautiful forms, that nonetheless evidence structural, material and environmental constraint. The group will be small, and a requirement is design sensibility, good computational skill and knowledge of Processing and JAVA (or aptitude to develop it quickly).
An alternative title would be: 'Springy Thingy, Birdy Wirdy and Dust Bunny (and their friends) visit Seville: Design Intuition meets Live Processing'. These design systems are already in existence, but require development to bring them to effective (public) demonstration. The composer Paul Steenhuisen will add a sonic element, which is always startling.
First meeting: Wednesday 10am Steam Cafe.
