An undergraduate seminar organized around a series of visits to sites important for the urban and architectural history of the city. The sites range across the whole history of building in Boston, from the colonial wood frame Paul Revere house to the modern structures of the business community, government, and the universities. Readings will provide a historical framework for the city's development and the visits are aimed at developing skills of analysis and interpretation of architecture. Each student will share the presentation of one of the sites with the instructor.
