Feminist theory is anthologized. Queer theory is curricular. Renderings are sexy. Nearly half of the students in American architecture schools are female. The body of the architect has been enhanced with technological prostheses. The design process is compared to gestation. Desire lines shape buildings. Exhibitionism and voyeurism invoke formal strategies. Sex is everywhere, but little discussed. thresholds 37 aims to expose a major component of psychosocial life by examining the many ways in which sex, of any stripe, affects the designed world. thresholds 37 invites contributions addressing the current state of sex, sexuality, gender, desire, reproduction, masturbation, repression, the queer, the erotic, the bodily, and the anatomic in architecture and culture now. ___________________________________________________ Submissions are due 7 August 2009.
