Carrie Brown is a Senior Technical Consultant at Resource Refocus LLC. Previously, she was an Associate Technical Director in Building Science at the Heschong Mahone Group, which merged with TRC Energy Solutions. There, she focused on building simulation and energy policy research, with an emphasis on Zero Net Energy (ZNE) in commercial, residential, and multifamily buildings. Carrie was also the first building technology specialist at Retroficiency and a research assistant at the University of California, Berkeley (UCB) and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where her research included optimization methods, thermal comfort and productivity studies, demand response technologies, HVAC technologies and controls, and distributed generation models. Carrie is currently on the Steering Committee for the 2015 ASHRAE Energy Modeling Conference, and she previously chaired the Scientific Committee for the 2014 ASHRAE/IBPSA Building Simulation Conference. Dr. Brown earned a Ph.D. in Building Technology from MIT, a Master of Science in Architecture with a concentration in Building Science from UCB, and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from MIT.
