Project
Core Studio III

Designed around the use of gabion walls as structure and infrastructure, this winery is sited along an arroyo in the wine region of Baja California, Mexico. The walls are embedded into the landscape to create a series of check dams along the arroyo, so as to promote water retention and support long-term vegetation on the site. Away from the bank, gabions are used to structure a gravity-fed winery alongside the arroyo, with a series of vaults that house wine cellars underground, whilst simultaneously defining a generous public space above it.
