Hybrid Architectural Robots: Linking Prototypes with Simulations

I propose a new relationship between human and architecture through sonic communication. A series of input/output devices embedded in the building enables reciprocal communication between human and architecture through sonic interaction. Multi-channel piezoelectric microphones attached to the body of architecture capture the subtle vibrations created from the inhabitants’ movement in space that conducts throughout the building material. The building learns from the multi-channel listening, which then gives audial cues to augment their cognitive ability.
