HTC at Architecture and Geology Colloquium in Oxford

Faculty members Timothy Hyde and Lauren Jacobi and Alumni Lucia Allais (PhD 2008) and Martin Bressani (SMArchS 1985) will be speaking at St. Catherine’s College in Oxford England on January 14, 2017. This Architecture and Geology Colloquium aims to document and interrogate the long-standing historical connections between architecture and the earth sciences evident before, during, and after the pivotal decades of nineteenth-century geological science. Hyde will discuss "Above and Below: Architecture between Myth and Geology.” Jacobi will give a talk called "On Stones and History: Florentine Architecture under Cosimo I de’ Medici.” Allais’s presentation covers the "City as Encrustation: Kieslinger’s Vienna, c. 1931,” and Bressani looks at "Viollet-le-Duc and the Crystal Metaphor.”
