Alexandros Haridis (Charidis)

Alexandros Haridis (Charidis) is a Ph.D. student in the Computation group in the Department of Architecture of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He holds a Diploma of Architect Engineer from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTh) in Greece, a SMArchS in Design and Computation from MIT and a MSc in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from MIT. His research interests lie in the theoretical aspects of computation in art and design, with emphasis on mathematics of shapes, shape grammars and theory of computability, similarity and complexity evaluation of shapes, machine intelligence and learning. He is the author of articles published in Environment and Planning B and Journal of Mathematics and the Arts. Alexandros has been awarded with multiple fellowships and grants for studies and research, including the MIT Presidential Fellowship, the MIT Leon Hyzen Fellowship, the Onassis Foundation Scholarship and the A.G. Leventis Foundation Scholarship. Alexandros has taught in the School of Architecture at AUTh, the Department of Architecture at MIT, the Boston Architectural College, and the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT.
