A multipotential curious explorer, shaping the future of social and technological systems~ My curiosity-driven and problem-driven works stem from the duality of the object (about facts, data, and actuality) and the “nonobject” (about perception, experience, and possibility).

As an interaction design architect and a creative technologist, I investigate the future of social and technological systems by mediating human and machine perception. Working across intelligent systems, sensory experiences, tangible products, and intangible services, I transform how people interact with media such as physiological sensing devices, mixed reality, self-driving vehicles, and adaptive built environment to empower their lives with meaning experiences. I employ human-centered design engineering methods in conjunction with quantitative and qualitative research to enhance personal and social well-being from the body scale to the city scale.

Through interdisciplinary projects across scales and industries, ranging from EEG-based physiological sensing platform for cognitive enhancement, vehicular communication systems in self-driving cars, wearable-enabled music therapy platform, Internet of Breaths (IoB) with smart air masks, vaccine syringe informant, assistive haptic-voice interface for visually impaired people, pneumatic wearables, soft architectural robotics, airport wayfinding system, to the adaptive built environment, I focus on human perception (sense) and machine perception (sensing) in order to design tangible interfaces for social interaction so that form mediates function and approaches critical socio-environmental challenges.
