Geometric Disciplines and Architecture Skills ⎯ Reciprocal Methodologies

Intensive introduction to the disciplines that impact the reciprocity between drawing and making in the design process, taught through a series of short exercises. The conceptual basis of each exercise is in the interrogation of the operative principles that lie at the core of each discipline. Topics of methodology covered range from orthographic projections to organic modeling. These topics elicit drawing techniques—hand drafting, sketching, digital modeling, posited in reciprocity with their material counterparts—planarity, carving, bending. Weekly lecture and pin-ups address the conventions associated with the modes of architectural representation and their capacity to convey ideas. Restricted to level on March students.
