Introduction to Geometric Modeling

Required of:
BSA

Introduces 3D CAD modeling to undergraduate students with little or no experience in CAD modeling. Basic theories in generative modeling combined with a variety of modeling applications are used to explore surface, solid and mesh modeling techniques. A variety of input tools are taught from entry-level keyboard commands to 3D scanning and CAD scripting. Design models created throughout the semester are explored through a variety of output devices from paper printed media, to 3D rendering, 3D printing and some CNC manufacturing. The course includes weekly modeling assignments and a final project.

Requirement and a priority given to Course 4 majors
