This advanced photography course is designed for students who already have some experience in photography and/or other artistic visual practice. The course focuses on the production of image-based art as a response to socio-political contexts, while bridging the gap between analog, digital and new technologies.

Through lectures, student-driven projects, readings, film screenings, field trips and discussions with guest lecturers, students explore a range of artistic strategies, while engaging in cross disciplinary research and working on collaborative and individual assignments.

Students are encouraged to work with a diversity of media and formats, video, sculpture, installation and more, providing images and/or image making technologies remain central to their projects. 35mm and digital SLRs, medium format cameras and 4X5 view cameras are available for checkout. This course is open to all students with a background in photography.
