Akshata Atre
Akshata received her BA in Architecture with a minor and City and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley, where she graduated with Highest Honors and was awarded the Eisner Prize in Architecture for exceptional achievement in design. Upon completing her degree, she worked as a designer on multi-family affordable housing projects in the San Francisco Bay Area, where she was able to pursue her interests in community-centered and socially-conscious work.
As an M.Arch candidate at MIT, Akshata is interested in further exploring how architects can more meaningfully improve the built environment by working directly with communities throughout the design process. Given her background working in affordable housing, she is additionally interested in surveying and cataloging economically viable sustainable design strategies for use in low-budget (but highly socially impactful) architectural projects.
