Daniel Harianto

Daniel is an urban designer and urban technologist based at MIT and currently pursuing study in SMArchS Urbanism. His works explore urban prototyping, participatory planning, and displaced populations due to urban degradation.

Before joining MIT, he was a registered urban designer from Indonesia. With years of professional experience, he demonstrated specialization in computational approaches and has worked on projects throughout Abu Dhabi, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Jakarta, and Nusantara. He graduated with distinction from Soegijapranata Catholic University, where he received the Thesis Award and represented Indonesia for the Asia Young Designer Award in 2021.

His research in the urbanism industry constantly harnesses diverse urban complexities and integrates them through algorithms to develop efficient design solutions. By combining conventional urban design principles and cutting-edge technology, he has established an integrated design workflow for future-proof urban spaces.
