Elshareef Kabbashi

M.Arch Candidate

Elshareef Kabbashi (Arabic: الشريف كباشي) is an architect, researcher, and multidisciplinary designer. He is driven by a passion for creating innovative and holistic designs that push the boundaries of what is possible in the field of architecture. His practice links social purpose with advanced computation—leveraging parametric methods, digital fabrication, and data-driven urban analysis to prototype adaptive, climate-aware architectures. He is particularly interested in how design can reconcile culture, public life, and ecological systems, and how emerging tools can expand architectural agency in resource-constrained contexts.

Elshareef strongly believes that architecture goes far beyond being a mere concept; instead, it is about creating places that define identity, shape society, reflect culture, influence history, and inspire ideas.

He received his Bachelor of Science with honors in Architecture and Environmental Planning from Hadhramout University in Yemen. Currently, he is pursuing a Master of Architecture (MArch) at MIT’s School of Architecture and Planning. Prior to joining MIT, Elshareef has contributed to a range of architectural projects and competitions spanning across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Outside studio, he enjoys language learning, chess, and cooking.
