Isabel Steele Bailey
Isabel Bailey is a PhD student in the History, Theory, and Criticism of Architecture and Art program at MIT. She is broadly interested in territoriality and settlement within the Russian imperial and Soviet colonial contexts of Central Asia, Siberia, and the Bering Strait region, as well as the ways in which disciplines developing during the late nineteenth to mid twentieth centuries, such as linguistics, ethnography, and anthropology, informed such processes within architecture. She earned her MA in the History of Art from The Courtauld Institute of Art and her BA in European Studies and Russian Language from the University of Vermont Honors College.
