Maryam M. Karimé
Maryam M. Karimé is a Lebanese-American architect based in Boston, MA and a SMArchS AD candidate at MIT.
Her research focuses on bringing materials' inherent qualities to the foreground using design and technology to resolve the drag between the theoretical perfection of form and the tangible constraints of matter. Her explorations in material intelligence and circularity through responsive design re-evaluates conventional assemblies and pushes material, architectural, and construction practices at their points of junction. Her work advocates for a restrained use of resources in architectural practice that embodies real environmental stewardship and elevates human sensory experience.
Prior to MIT, she worked at Leers Weinzapfel Associates where she was a key team member on the new National Conservation Legacy Center in Missoula, MT from concept through completion, contributing to the delicate design of the museum's treelike column structures. In 2024, she was one of METROPOLIS' Top 30 Architects under 30.
