Alexander Stewart

MArch Candidate

Alexander Stewart is an MArch degree candidate at MIT's School of Architecture and Planning. He graduated cum laude from Harvard University in 2022, where he earned his A.B. in Art, Film, and Visual Studies with a secondary in History of Art and Architecture, in addition to awards for volunteering and community leadership. He also graduated with honors from Pasco-Hernando State College in 2017, where he earned his A.A.

Alex is passionate about architecture with regards to social justice and sustainability, but his interests extend across the intersections among design disciplines and into other fields as well, including product design and UX/UI.

Projects
Black Picket Fence
A commentary on the the “American Dream” (symbolized by the white single-family house) and the struggle of fragmented, historically marginalized communities to grasp it, despite being fragmented and burdened by it.

The Sunbeam
A reinterpretation of the archetypal suburban home, converted to sustainable community housing for disadvantaged communities.
