Aisha Cheema

Aisha Cheema is a Master of Architecture student at MIT with a background in architectural practice. As Student Sustainability Project Lead at the MIT Office of Sustainability, she directs a campus heat monitoring study across MIT and Cambridge to inform cooling initiatives at the campus and municipal scale. She is the recipient of the Pearl Willmer-Shiles Award, through which she is leading a campus shade structure initiative from design through fabrication. She is also a Research Assistant in the Digital Structures Lab, working with Professor Caitlin Mueller and Sandy Curth on 3D printed earthen construction. She has conducted heat resilience research in Karachi, Pakistan with Yasmeen Lari and the Heritage Foundation of Pakistan, and has prior experience in architectural practice across residential and commercial projects. At MIT, she served as Co-President of NOMAS for two years and has taught across six studios and courses.
