Lee Marom

SMArchS Computation

Lee Marom is a multidisciplinary researcher, engineer, and computational designer currently pursuing a PhD in Mechanical Engineering at MIT at the Laboratory for Atomistic and Molecular Mechanics, and a SMArchS Computation degree. Her work blends formal methods, AI, biological material intelligence, and digital fabrication to design and realize intelligent material systems across scales. Her design work has been exhibited at the 19th International Architecture Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia, and she has been awarded the presidential Lemelson fellowship for innovation.

Before joining MIT, Lee gained diverse industry experience as a designer and engineer for innovative art and architecture studios such as Breakfast Studio in Brooklyn and Futureforms in San Francisco. In these roles, she contributed to projects that merged technology, art, and fabrication for customers, including Tiffany Co., Art Miami, and Fontaine Bleau.

Lee holds an MS in Mechanical Engineering with a specialization in biomechanics and fabrication, along with a BS in Product Design Engineering from Stanford University. At Stanford, she was a teaching assistant in the Product Realization Lab, mentoring students in design for manufacturing and fabrication processes, as well as the dedicated woodshop specialist, helping foster hands-on skills within the community.
