Hung-Yu Chu

Hung-Yu Chu is an SMArchS urbanism student at MIT and a licensed architect from Taiwan. He received his Bachelor of Architecture and Master of Architecture in Architectural History and Conservation from National Cheng Kung University (NCKU).

Before joining MIT, he worked as a Project Architect at Atelier Tsuyoshi Tane Architects in Paris, contributing to architectural and exhibition projects across multiple scales, ranging from private residences to museums and cultural institutions. His professional experience integrates architectural design, research, and graphic communication through drawing, mapping, visualization, and documentation.

His research focuses on the relationship between architecture, cities, and cultural landscapes, with particular attention to modern architectural history, urban transformation, and spatial representation. He is interested in how historical research, mapping, and design can reveal the layered narratives of cities and inform contemporary architectural practice.
