Ana Ines Cruces

Ana is an architectural designer and urban researcher. As a SMArchS Urbanism candidate, she is intrigued by the power of design to drive urbanity in emerging geographies. Her work focuses on civic infrastructures, the landscapes they shape, and the broader territorial and social systems that they transform.

The engagement with territorial questions through a multiscalar approach developed during her Bachelor of Architecture at the University of Buenos Aires in Argentina, where she graduated with honors in 2022. Her first independent research project, Productive Landscapes: A Vision for the Pampa region in Argentina, examines the towns embedded in the country’s main agricultural region, provoking visions for their future development. Ana presented Productive Landscapes at multiple research forums, receiving recognition from the Buenos Aires Institute of Architects (CAPBA) and the Argentine Ministry of Science and Technology (MinCyT).

In her professional practice, Ana has worked across a range of scales and geographies. Most recently, at the Office for Metropolitan Architecture (OMA) in Rotterdam, she has been involved in the development of proposals for educational buildings and mixed-use masterplans in Europe and the Middle East. Earlier in her practice in Argentina, she collaborated on a competition for the revitalization of the waterfront in San Martín de los Andes, Patagonia, as well as on public space and green infrastructure interventions aimed at improving flood resilience in informal settlements in Buenos Aires.

Ana is constantly seeking other "Pampas" around the world to advance her agenda and contribute to a practice and dialogue that spans Argentina, the Netherlands, the United States, and beyond.
