Yingkai Xiong

Yingkai holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the Rhode Island School of Design and is currently an SMArchS Architectural Design candidate at MIT. His research repositions material constructs as instigators of architectural experimentation within a non-schismatic framework, speculating on alternative modes of production to expand the capacities of contemporary practice.

Prior to MIT, Yingkai contributed volunteer works to adaptive reuse projects revitalizing traditional Tibetan stone houses, and practiced as a full-time designer at Bates Masi Architects. He has also served as a Research Assistant investigating novel building assemblies for circular, sustainable small-unit housing, and holds certification as a passive house consultant from Phius.
