Alexandros Gravalos

Alexandros is a researcher and interdisciplinary architectural designer from Greece, currently pursuing his SMArchS degree with a focus on Architectural Design. His work aims to rethink the architectural design process, not by prioritizing the final product that consumer-driven frameworks often demand, but by foregrounding the acts of creation and making. Much of his practice is informed by performance art and its capacity to interrupt everyday norms, reframing familiar processes through alternative modes of perception.

His practice is experimental, employing a wide range of media including physical models, VR visualizations, point-cloud studies, performance-based projects, manual drawings, large-scale abstract works on paper, and generative, code-based interactive drawings.

He received his diploma in architecture from the National Technical University of Athens (NTUA) and has worked as an architectural designer since. In 2023, he won his first national competition, and the same project was awarded “Project of the Year” by the Greek architectural association Domes.
